Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. I attempted to install the BIOS update you mentioned, and received a message saying that a Synaptics driver was not installed. However, I have installed the provided synaptics driver from Acer's website. The Synaptics driver does not appear in Programs and Features. When the touchpad is run in advanced mode through BIOS settings, Windows does not detect that a touchpad is connected.

Therefore, no touchpad appears under the "Mice and other pointing devices" tab. As mentioned before, when run in advanced mode, the IO2 HID driver is what is throwing the code 10 error.
